YES!
Yes there are many careers as a pilot. They include airline captain, corporate pilot, agricultural pilot, instructor, and of course military pilots. In fact flying lessons make a great graduation gift, less expensive than that shiny red BMW, far safer, and one that can provide opportunity in the future.
All you need to do is call 925-294-9703 and schedule a lesson. When you come to the airport to fly you will need to prove citizenship to satisfy TSA requirements. This can be done with a passport, or a copy of your birth certificate and a government issued picture ID such as a driver’s license. If you are a foreign national you will have to register with the TSA. We can give you more information if you are a foreign national.
You must be 16 years of age to solo (17 years old to get a private pilots license), be able to read, speak and understand English. You will need to get a flight physical before you solo. The minimum time required for the private pilots license is 20 hours of dual instruction and 20 hours of solo. You will also need to pass the FAA private pilot written exam, an oral examination and the practical flight test.
You will need your medical prior to your fist solo. We suggest that you get your medical as soon as possible.
The FAA medical is administered by an FAA Medical Examiner. Click here for a listing of local examiners. http://faa.gov/pilots/amelocator/
No. You can do the ground study while taking lessons. You should schedule your studies so that your FAA written is passed before you are ready for your check ride.
It depends on you. There is no minimum number of hours needed to solo. Your instructor must be satisfied that you have learned to perform certain maneuvers before you will solo. You must show that you use good judgment when flying and be able to maintain control of the aircraft.
While the FAA requires a minimum of 40 hours every student progresses at a different rate. The average student takes 65 hours to get their license. It also depends upon your flight schedule. The more often you fly the more you will retain between lessons, and the faster you will progress.
Lessons are usually planned in one and a half hour slots. That gives you an hour of instruction, and 30 minute to pre- and post flight. By the way you only pay for the instruction time.
No. Learning in a taildragger will take no longer than learning in a nose wheel aircraft.

I am a pilot, and I need a BFR. Can I combine a BFR with a Tailwheel check out?
In conjunction with your Tailwheel endorsement you can also fulfill the BFR requirement.
Tailwheel pilots have a more complete command of the aircraft, a better understanding of the physics behind flight, and they have an added skill set that makes them more proficient in controlling the aircraft. But you’ll never be able to claim that till you do it!
Yes they are. The CG of a conventional gear aircraft is behind the main landing gear, which causes it to be less directionally stable than a nose wheel aircraft. They demand more from the pilot.
As in all aspects of aviation, that depends upon the individual pilot, their ability, and previous training. We wont hurry you through the process. Some people take a little longer than others, but in the end you are a safe, proficient pilot. Usually it takes 7 to 15 hours.
Yes, we encourage all of our pilots to have spin training, and require it of our primary students.
Yes you can.
If you are considering learning to fly, our school is for you! We teach flying the way it should be taught, with an emphasis on safety and flying skill. We do not mass-produce pilots for the airlines. We work with each student on an individual basis, tailoring the lessons to your individual style of learning.
We offer expert instruction for the pilot wanting basic flight training, tailwheel transition training, currency training, and BFR. We offer primary and tailwheel transition training in the Aeronca Champ, or the 150hp Champion Citabria.
